Invitation
The Shelburne Historical Society (SHS), in cooperation with the Town of Shelburne (Town), is inviting interested parties to submit Letters of Interest for developing the Cox Building in Shelburne, Nova Scotia. This landmark building is a three storey 16,000 square foot structure located in the heart of the historic Shelburne Waterfront, with unobstructed views of the adjacent harbour. Also available, if essential to the development, are the Bowling Green, and Guild Hall properties, both located on the east side of the Cox Building. This Request for Letters of Interest (RFI) has been developed by the Cox Building Team, (CBT), a subcommittee of the SHS.
Shelburne, just 100 km by highway from the Yarmouth Ferry Terminal and 200 km from Halifax, is one of the most complete Loyalist historical sites in Canada, with over 18 restored homes and buildings constructed directly after the first Loyalist landing in 1783. Many of these buildings have become museums and working exhibits and are located throughout the same historic neighbourhood as the Cox Building. With a town population of 1850, and perched on the edge of the beautiful Shelburne Harbour, this small but vibrant community attracts both visitors and new residents from all over the world. The Shelburne Harbour Yacht Club, the Osprey Arts Centre, the charming historic district, and the unusually scenic and accessible waterfront, make Shelburne a desirable home for families, retirees, and new businesses.
